Words for the conversation before a meal.
Dietary Cards provides short restaurant messages you can show on your phone or carry on paper. Each card has a complete English meaning so you can understand the request before showing it to someone else.
How a version reaches the library
- We define the dietary scope and draft an original English message using primary references.
- A separate AI provider critiques the source for meaning, omissions and unsupported claims.
- We translate the message, record the exact target wording and English meaning, and obtain an independent language critique. Material findings require revision and another review of the changed version.
- Celiac cards receive an additional blind interpretation of the target text and a category-confusion audit.
- The same message data creates the web card, phone image and PDF. Automated checks verify complete text, script rendering, print size and QR destination before release.
The current workflow uses an OpenAI authoring session and Anthropic Claude Opus 5.5 for independent AI critique. Review records identify exact content versions. A wording change requires new review; a layout change requires new output checks.
What the checks mean
The cards are AI-created and AI-reviewed. The checks can still miss translation or dietary errors. They are not professional certification, and the referenced organizations have not reviewed or endorsed these cards. No human translation or clinical review is claimed.
A card helps explain a request. It cannot establish the ingredients a restaurant uses, confirm kitchen practices or guarantee a meal. Read the English meaning, select the appropriate scope, and discuss uncertainty with staff.
References and scope
Celiac messages start from the Celiac Disease Foundation’s celiac overview, its dining guidance and ingredient guidance. Vegan ingredient scope follows the Vegan Society’s dietary definition. Each card links to the references used for its source.
Corrections
Report a wording problem with the card and version. Material problems can result in withdrawal. The stable QR route will display the current status, but copies already saved, printed or shared cannot be recalled.
